Southern Sector Secondary Plan

The extension of Dieppe Boulevard, which will soon join Amirault Street at the Dover Road intersection, will be completed in 2026. This major project will bring notable changes to the southern part of the municipality and create new development opportunities for local landowners.

Residents of the area were invited last January to attend an information session on the proposed secondary plan. The presentation document can be viewed here.

The proposed plan will be presented to City Council during the Standing Committee of Council meeting on Tuesday, February 17, at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber at City Hall (333 Acadie Avenue), and will also be broadcast live on YouTube at www.youtube.com/dieppenb

What will the development of this sector look like?

The creation of the secondary plan will help define a vision for the area located south of the municipality, specifically the lands surrounding the extension of Dieppe Boulevard.

This vision will take into consideration:

  • residential and commercial development needs,
  • the environmental characteristics of the area,
  • and the necessary infrastructure.

The information and consultation sessions are an opportunity for the public to learn more about the ongoing project and to share their ideas and feedback on the development of this municipal territory.

What is a secondary plan?

The secondary plan is a strategic document that will complement the municipality’s existing Municipal Development Plan (adopted in 2017). This long-term strategic plan guides growth and changes related to land use across our territory.

Following the much-anticipated announcement of funding for the Dieppe Boulevard extension, a secondary plan is required to address the impact this project will have on the area. The Dieppe Boulevard extension transforms the character of this territory, and therefore requires a vision for the development of surrounding lands.

The new secondary plan will outline the direction for the development of the lands surrounding the extension of Dieppe Boulevard.
