Dieppe is proud of its Francophonie

DIEPPE (NB) – As the world's largest Acadian city, Dieppe is proud to celebrate the International Francophonie Day with special programming from March 16 to 22, 2025. This initiative reaffirms Dieppe's desire to shine as an inclusive, modern francophone city that is proud of its Acadian roots.

Francophonie is for sharing!

The Francophonie Week in Dieppe highlights the diversity and richness of the French language and culture. It's a unique opportunity to come together to celebrate the French language in all its forms.

Dieppe is proud to be working with the Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie (FICFA), Le Pays de la Sagouine, the Dieppe Public Library and the Centre des arts et de la culture de Dieppe. Thanks to these invaluable partnerships, we'll be presenting an author/composer circle with Daniel Léger, Laurie LeBlanc and Émilie Landry, as well as literature, film, music and more! Francophonie Week is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Government of New Brunswick.

L’Acadie has lost a star

This year, we also pay tribute to an emblematic figure of the Francophonie, Antonine Maillet, whose exceptional career had a profound impact on Acadian literature and culture. L’Acadie, and more broadly La Francophonie, has lost a powerful voice, but her legacy continues to shine through her work and commitment.
